A man who never gives up in spite of problems is a persistent man. When used to describe a nonliving thing, persistent means continuing to exist or occur over a prolonged period. Now a rookie cannot be expected to perform at the same level as an experienced worker but every worker can raise his level a little bit all the time to catch up with the rest.
