The series storyline also happens to be set in the Lake District. Residents and regular visitors to the Lake District may recognise some other picturesque locations featured in Safe House, including Keswick and Honister Pass, plus lakes Buttermere and Windermere. If previous hit television series such as Broadchurch and Poldark are anything to go by, the filming of Safe House will likely lead to a significant increase in the number of tourists visiting Coniston and the wider Lake District National Park.

After their filming in Cape Town was complete, the production team returned to the US to film additional sequences. A few scenes were filmed in Washington, DC, the capital city of the country. Situated by the Potomac River and neighbored by Maryland and Virginia, Washington, DC, is a compact city flaunting exquisite neoclassical architecture. Home to the White House and the National Gallery of Art, the city is not only the administrative seat of the country but also a coveted tourist destination, especially for history buffs.

The cast and crew also visited Paris, the capital of France and a global metropolis with a vast cultural heritage. Known as the City of Light, Paris showcases a rich confluence of cultures rare in other European cities. After the initial filming was complete, the director was seemingly not pleased with some of the shots. As a result, he chose to take his cast and crew to the world-renowned neighborhood of Hollywood in Los Angeles to reshoot these sequences.

Where Was Safe House Filmed? Arka Mukhopadhyay. Those staying in nearby Ambleside holiday cottages in the coming months could see filming being done in the area. In the first series the four-part thriller was predominantly filmed in Coniston and around Coniston Water, taking in the beautiful surrounding countryside.

The second series of Safe House will once again be a four-part story that sees Robert Christopher Eccleston and wife Katy Marsha Thomason offer their remote guest house as a sanctuary to people in need of protection.
