Why is bob fitzgerald not broadcasting

According to a post in The Athletic today, Fitzgerald appeared on the air with his longtime partner Rod Brooks for the last time on Friday. For three decades it has been my great privilege to entertain the incredible sports fans of the Bay Area. KNBR will always have a special place in my heart and I wish everyone at the station all the best moving forward.

When Fitzgerald arrived in Orlando, he had a hour quarantine period in his hotel room, while he waited on a negative COVID test result. As part of the Turner Sports team, Fitzgerald spent a fair amount of socially distanced time with fellow announcers Chris Webber, Greg Anthony and especially Jim Jackson. Much golf was played, many meals were eaten together the food was fine, by the way, he says , and plenty of basketball was watched. And then, last Wednesday, Fitzgerald showed up to the arena with Jackson to call game five of the Milwaukee Bucks-Orlando Magic series.

Fitzgerald and Jackson were figuring out what was going on in real-time, then continued to broadcast and give their thoughts after the game was postponed. Jim Jackson: "It's not about the game. It's about human life. Fitzgerald is home now, and beginning to unpack his bubble experience. Q: Can you walk me through a typical day when you were not calling a game in the bubble? One of the diversions that was available was golf. It really was how much do I want to stay in my hotel room versus how much do I want to interact with people outside.

It was lots of getting exercise and prepping for the next game. There was definitely a lot of conversation and laughter. The former players have a different view on the playoffs from being in them, and hearing about that was great. More FS Southeast News ».
