It runs fine. Slight jump in the music when you first start a battle and some casting animations lag but I got through to the end and finished on my fat PSP. The framerate while playing FMVs would drop down to a crawl and battle animations particularly Vivi's spells had quite bad lag. I would say it was unplayable. I'm not sure if they slightly increased the specification of the handheld, the smaller screen might have helped but all I know is that my old PSP certainly struggled with FFIX.
